Man Utd fans are convinced they’ve uncovered a gem following pre-season masterclass against Rosenborg
Manchester United fans have identified another potential star in their ranks after Czech goalkeeper Radek Vitek’s impressive performance in the opening pre-season game against Rosenborg BK. Despite the team’s 1-0 defeat, Vitek’s display was a standout.
Erik ten Hag’s squad, preparing for the 2024/25 campaign, included several academy players for the match in Norway. Among them, Vitek, who joined Manchester United from Sigma Olomouc in 2020, showcased his talents with a series of remarkable saves. The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at League Two side Accrington Stanley, made seven saves in total, earning praise from both the manager and fans.
Ten Hag acknowledged Vitek’s performance, stating: “Let’s say he [Vitek] had the opportunity to shine thanks to the team’s performance, which was not good enough.” This indicates that despite the overall team’s shortcomings, Vitek’s individual brilliance stood out.
On social media, fans expressed their admiration for Vitek’s performance. Comments included suggestions for another loan to gain more game time and calls for him to be considered for the number two goalkeeper spot. Praise ranged from noting his exceptional saves to acknowledging his potential as another excellent keeper produced by the academy.
Vitek himself commented on the match, saying: “I’m happy with some saves, but only victory counts in the end,” reflecting a professional attitude focused on team success.
Manchester United will look to build on this pre-season performance and improve in their next match against Rangers. Fans will be eager to see more of Vitek and whether he can continue to impress and solidify his place within the squad.
