Johan Bakayoko, the 21-year-old Belgian international, has not yet committed his future to PSV Eindhoven amidst ongoing transfer links to Liverpool. Despite the uncertainty, Bakayoko revealed he had previously turned down a move to the Premier League last summer.
This season, Bakayoko’s standout performances helped PSV secure the Eredivisie title, attracting interest from Liverpool, Arsenal, and Bayern Munich. Reports from the Netherlands suggest the right-winger could be available for as little as €50 million this summer.
While preparing to compete with the Belgian national team at the European Championships, Bakayoko has chosen not to reveal his plans for the next season, despite Premier League interest. He told Het Belang van Limburg, “The only thing I can say is that next year I will be on a football pitch somewhere.”
Bakayoko also confirmed that Vincent Kompany, his compatriot, attempted to recruit him to Burnley last summer. “I received a call from Kompany last year, indeed,” he said. “He then explained his vision. That was nice. I clarified my view. It was a good conversation, but that was last summer.”
