Manchester United fans are already convinced that Leny Yoro will help return the club to football’s elite after witnessing his first 15 minutes on the pitch against Rangers.

Yoro, who was signed from Lille on Thursday for an initial fee of £50 million plus £12 million in potential add-ons, made an immediate impact in United’s pre-season friendly. Named in the starting lineup, Yoro showcased his abilities early on, delighting the fans.

Just 15 minutes into the match, Yoro executed a precise cross-field pass that found the advancing Sam Murray, leaving him ample space on the left flank. This display of vision and accuracy was followed by a crucial last-ditch tackle to deny Rangers forward Cyril Dessers a shot on goal at Andre Onana.

Fans were quick to express their excitement and admiration for Yoro’s performance. One fan commented, “Not to over-exaggerate but Leny Yoro MIGHT be the best centre-back in the world.” Another noted, “Early signs and will need to see against tougher opposition, but Leny Yoro looks promising.” A third fan compared Yoro to a United legend, saying, “Leny Yoro is a freaking Rolls-Royce of a defender… I have not seen that type of quality on a pitch for Manchester United since Rio Ferdinand.” A fourth fan simply stated, “Leny Yoro is even better than I thought he was going to be.”

In addition to Yoro’s promising debut, Amad Diallo gave United the lead on 37 minutes with a superb goal, cutting in from the right before firing into the corner. The friendly match, played at the neutral venue of Murrayfield, saw several first-team players in action, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount, Jonny Evans, and Casemiro.

Another notable appearance was that of Jadon Sancho, who started the game against the Scottish Premiership runners-up. This marked Sancho’s first appearance in a United shirt since August 2023, adding to the anticipation and excitement among fans.

With such promising performances and the integration of new talent like Yoro, Manchester United supporters have reason to believe that their team is on the path to reclaiming its place among football’s elite.
