LIVERPOOL
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has proposed a £110m offer to secure Napoli’s star player to strengthen his attack.

Arne Slot’s top transfer target this summer is reportedly Victor Osimhen, a player who would likely require Liverpool to break their existing transfer record to secure his services. According to “The Daily Express,” Slot, who is set to become Liverpool’s head coach, has set his sights on the Nigerian striker. Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is reportedly demanding a substantial £110 million fee for Osimhen. This figure represents a significant investment, one that Liverpool’s management seems prepared to make if it means acquiring their top target.
Liverpool’s leadership appears ready to offer Slot a generous budget for his inaugural transfer window, potentially allocating a significant portion of it toward securing Osimhen. The 25-year-old forward is reportedly keen on leaving Napoli, which has only intensified interest from various clubs. However, the high financial requirement has stalled discussions with Paris Saint-Germain and led Arsenal to completely withdraw from the race.
Securing Osimhen before the transfer window closes in a month would serve as a strong countermeasure for Liverpool, especially after missing out on Riccardo Calafiori, who recently joined Arsenal despite Liverpool’s interest. Despite Napoli’s lackluster performance during the 2023/24 season, Osimhen demonstrated his prowess by scoring 15 goals in 25 league appearances. This followed a stellar season in which he netted 26 goals, significantly contributing to Napoli’s Serie A title win.
Though Osimhen’s impressive European track record underscores his potential value, the hefty price tag means Liverpool would be making a bold commitment. This high investment brings with it the expectation of immediate returns. If Liverpool does go through with this purchase, it would not only be a statement of intent but also likely necessitate adjustments within the current squad. Specifically, Darwin Nunez, Liverpool’s current record signing from Benfica in 2022, might need to either adapt to a different role or be sidelined should Osimhen join the team.
In summary, if Liverpool manages to bring Osimhen on board, it would mark a significant move for the club under Slot’s guidance. However, given the current circumstances and financial demands, the actualization of this transfer remains uncertain.
