Barcelona New Signing Dani Olmo Selects His Jersey Number
With his transfer from RB Leipzig all but finalized, Barcelona’s newest acquisition Dani Olmo has chosen his jersey number for the upcoming season.
Following medicals and contract agreements, the only formality remaining is the official announcement from Barcelona. The Blaugrana agreed to a €55 million transfer fee with an additional €7 million in potential bonuses to secure the 26-year-old midfielder.
Olmo, a Barcelona academy product returning to his boyhood club, has opted for the number 20 jersey. This selection comes as a surprise to some fans, as Olmo hasn’t previously worn that number at any professional or youth level. The number became available after Barcelona opted not to renew the contract of former captain Sergi Roberto.
While the official announcement is pending, reports suggest Olmo will indeed be Barcelona’s new number 20. This selection strengthens the belief that Roberto won’t be returning to the club and leaves the prestigious number 10 shirt potentially available, with Ansu Fati’s future uncertain.
