OFFICIAL NOW: Manchester United completes the signing of the most important player in Europe, salary structure approved, player to wear Iconic Jersey number as medical will be done today

Manchester United has made a significant move by securing one of Europe’s most sought-after talents. The club’s management has agreed to the terms of the contract, including the player’s salary, with the new signing set to undergo his medical examination today.
This acquisition could lead to a highly anticipated reunion between Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag and Dutch center-back Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt, who previously thrived under ten Hag at Ajax, is reportedly close to a move to Old Trafford. The latest edition of The Daily Record hints at this imminent reunion, with the headline, “Ten Hag closes in on a reunion.”
Initially, Manchester United’s offer for the Dutch international was turned down by Bayern Munich, who have valued De Ligt at around £42.9 million. However, Bayern Munich is on the verge of signing German international Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen, a deal contingent on De Ligt’s departure.
According to the German news outlet Bild, Bayern Munich is under increasing pressure to sell players during the current transfer window. The report indicates that Bayern might not only offload De Ligt but could also consider selling another center-back. While Bayern initially set De Ligt’s transfer fee at £42.9 million (or €50 million), there might be room for negotiation to complete the sale.
With Manchester United preparing for the upcoming Community Shield match against Premier League champions Manchester City, manager Erik ten Hag is eager to finalize De Ligt’s transfer, especially with new signing Leny Yoro sidelined due to injury. The urgency to reinforce the defense has intensified, and De Ligt is expected to undergo his medical examination today. Once the deal is completed, De Ligt will be officially unveiled as Manchester United’s latest addition and could be assigned a prestigious jersey number at the club.
