Arsenal has reportedly made an initial offer for Ferdi Kadioglu, a star for both Fenerbahce and the Turkish national team, as they look to boost their defense in the final weeks of the transfer window.
The 24-year-old has garnered a lot of attention this summer due to his standout performances at Euro 2024, where he played a key role in Turkey’s advance to the quarter-finals, before being knocked out by the Netherlands.
Kadioglu, who is highly valued at Fenerbahce, is expected to be a key player in Jose Mourinho’s squad this season. However, with rising interest from several clubs, Arsenal is reported to have made their initial move. According to reports from Nutuk, the Gunners have submitted an opening bid of approximately £17 million for the versatile wing-back. Despite this, Fenerbahce is firm on their £30 million valuation, suggesting that negotiations may still be ongoing.
In May, rumors circulated that Kadioglu had already agreed to personal terms with Arsenal. In addition to interest from the North London club, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion have also been closely watching his situation.
This development comes after Arsenal recently secured Riccardo Calafiori, an Italian defender who also impressed at this summer’s tournament. Calafiori became Arsenal’s second signing of the summer in a deal valued at £42 million. With his addition, Arsenal now has a strong lineup of left-backs, including Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jurrien Timber, Jakub Kiwior, and Kieran Tierney. However, none of these players possess the same attacking ability that Kadioglu offers.
As the transfer window approaches its final three weeks, Arsenal is expected to remain active, potentially eyeing a new midfielder and attacker. Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino, another player who saw his value rise after Euro 2024, is believed to be their top target for midfield reinforcement.”
