BREAKING: Nico Williams to Arsenal – Deal in Progress!

Arsenal has identified Nico Williams as their preferred option for a wide player.

Nico Williams is highly regarded by Arsenal, particularly by manager Mikel Arteta, as reported by Football London. His stellar performance in the Euro 2024 final and throughout the tournament has greatly enhanced his reputation, drawing attention from clubs across Europe.

Barcelona is also interested in Williams, and it’s believed that he favors a move to the Catalan club. This would allow him to reunite with his Spain teammate Lamine Yamal, rekindling the successful partnership they had during the Championships.

“It’s always motivating to hear such things; it shows I’m doing my job well. Every child dreams of catching the eye of big clubs,” said Williams during the tournament.

Speaking about Barcelona’s interest, he added, “Right now, my focus is on performing well in the Euro Cup. I’ll handle whatever comes next later because I’m currently completely disconnected.”

Williams’ versatility makes him an ideal match for Arteta, who values players capable of playing in various positions. In the final against England, he even played on the right to assist Yamal in outmaneuvering Luke Shaw, who was marking the teenager effectively.

Arsenal needs another wide player to support Bukayo Saka. However, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli already in the squad, many believe that investing in a right-sided left-footer, which Williams is not, would make more sense. This is why players like Leroy Sane and Johan Bakayoko have been considered.

Despite this, Williams’ standout final performance against England could push Arsenal to intensify their interest. However, with Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira, and Emile Smith Rowe still in the team, some departures might be necessary.

Smith Rowe has already drawn a rejected bid from Fulham, and Marseille is reportedly interested in Nketiah. These potential exits could generate the funds required to pursue Williams.
