Officially giving up Ugarte, Man Utd considers 2 Brazilian stars to OTF to replace Casemiro

Manchester United is reportedly reassessing their interest in Manuel Ugarte. Despite earlier reports suggesting a deal had been reached with the Uruguayan player, the club is now said to be reluctant to meet Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price, which exceeds €60 million.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United is considering alternative options. One prominent target is Sofyan Amrabat, who has recently returned to Fiorentina following a loan spell at Old Trafford. While the financial aspect of the Amrabat deal might be more appealing to United, there is some doubt as to whether his signing would significantly bolster the team’s midfield, especially given the uncertain futures of players like Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, and Scott McTominay.
In addition to Amrabat, journalist Ben Jacobs has reported that Manchester United is also exploring the possibility of signing Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Gomes, who moved to Wolves from Flamengo, has quickly become a standout player in the Premier League, particularly noted for his ability to recover the ball. He made a strong impression in Wolves’ win over Manchester United in the opening match of the 2023/24 season.

Another Brazilian player on United’s radar is Andre Trindade from Fluminense. Although Andre has not yet played in Europe, Jacobs suggests that he could be available for less than £30 million, making him an economical option. The 23-year-old recently won the 2023 Copa Libertadores and has drawn comparisons to Casemiro, whom he has cited as an influence on his style of play.
Interestingly, Fulham is also reportedly interested in Andre and is eyeing Scott McTominay as well. If Manchester United decides to sell McTominay, who could bring in around £25 million, they may face competition from Fulham in their pursuit of Andre.
