Man Utd star to extend his contract as Fabrizio Romano shares major update

Manchester United have come to an agreement with Bruno Fernandes on a new contract, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

Fernandes’ new contract will be in effect until June 2027, with an option for an additional year.

Romano states that the 29-year-old will be one of the highest earners at the club.

He signed a contract in April 2020 worth around £220,000 per week, which is set to run until 2026. The terms of his new contract will place him in the top pay tier alongside Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, and Jadon Sancho.

Rashford earns a basic salary of about £365,000 per week, slightly more than Casemiro, while Sancho earns around £300,000 per week.

A new contract is expected to be signed before the summer transfer window closes.

Fernandes has been with Manchester United since January 2020, after joining from Sporting CP for a reported fee of £67.6 million.

Since then, he has made an impressive 234 appearances across all competitions for the club, becoming a key player.

Fernandes had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with reports suggesting he was set to speak to Saudi Arabian officials about a switch to the Middle East.

A transfer to Bayern Munich and Inter Milan had also been speculated amid uncertainty over the star player’s future.

However, Romano’s significant update confirms the Portuguese player’s commitment to Manchester United, as he is set to spend the prime of his career in the Premier League.

A few months ago, Fernandes expressed his desire to remain at Manchester United while emphasizing that the club must match his ambitions.

“I don’t want to leave. This has always been my ultimate dream. I just want my expectations to align with the expectations of the club,” he stated. “If you talk to any fan, they will say the same thing. We want to compete for the league. We want to be playing Champions League football. We want to be in cup finals. That is the standard.”
