REPORT: Saudi Arabia is prepared to gift Arsenal a ‘perfect’ transfer window after a huge sum of around £130 million was offered to Arsenal in return for FOUR Arsenal stars. No other Premier League team earned up to 100 million from sales last summer- Mikel Arteta will decide
Arsenal may soon attract interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, with reports indicating that some teams are contemplating making “lucrative” offers for two prominent players in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Arsenal’s sporting director, Edu, along with manager Mikel Arteta, are already heavily involved in planning for the upcoming summer transfer window, anticipating potential major departures. Edu has indicated that the club has already pinpointed their primary targets for the window. Speaking to TNT about Arsenal’s transfer strategy, Edu said, “I understand what the fans are asking for, but we already have our targets. We have planned a lot ahead and I will be worried if we don’t score a lot of goals and if we’re not creating chances, which is the opposite because we create a lot and score a lot of goals.”
Edu stressed that Arsenal’s objective is to improve each year, emphasizing the importance of finding players whose character aligns with the club’s ethos. “The plan is to try to get better every year, and I think we are in a good moment. Let’s see if we can keep improving. Many times in certain conversations to recruit players, you don’t see the character of the player, or the character does not fit well with what we are trying to do. Then you have to move on and try to find what we’re really looking for. If you see all the signings we’ve made since we started together, everyone is almost the same—young, energetic, passionate, and talented, with big, beautiful futures ahead of them,” Edu added.
There are even suggestions that Arsenal might break their summer transfer record once the window opens, a significant feat considering the club spent roughly £208 million in the last summer window.
As part of their summer strategy, Edu and Arteta are focused on acquiring a prolific striker and a central midfielder, according to Charles Watts. However, this could also imply significant changes for current players Gabriel Jesus and Thomas Partey, whose futures at the club are uncertain.
Gabriel Jesus, who joined Arsenal from Manchester City for approximately £45 million in the summer of 2022, has had a somewhat disappointing season, managing just eight goals and seven assists across all competitions. His position could be in jeopardy if Arsenal secures a striker like Viktor Gyokeres, rumored to be a target.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is also open to selling Thomas Partey if a suitable offer is received. Partey’s contract is due to expire next year, and with Arsenal having paid his full £45 million buy-out clause to bring him from Atletico Madrid in 2020, the club may consider cashing in before his contract ends. Although Partey has been a key player for Arsenal, he may be nearing the end of his time with the club.
These potential exits could lead to significant changes in Arsenal’s summer transfer activities, with the club aiming to build a squad capable of competing for top honors in the coming seasons, not only through new arrivals but also through the departure of key players.
