After Barcelona’s disappointing 3-0 loss to Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy, Arsène Wenger, serving as a Sky Sports analyst, did not hold back in his critique of the team’s performance, particularly focusing on goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

Wenger remarked, “I think that Barcelona, a long time ago, had a clear problem, and it is Ter Stegen. Monaco had three shots on goal today, and two of them ended up in the net. But the biggest problem isn’t just the goals—it’s the way Ter Stegen tackles. His technique is almost comical, raising his hand every time as if he’s throwing a salute. It’s incredible.”

He continued, “Ter Stegen is undoubtedly great at one-on-one situations, but when it comes to long or short-range shots, he’s not reliable. If Barcelona wants to succeed, they need to sign a better goalkeeper.”

Wenger’s harsh analysis highlights a growing concern among fans and pundits about Ter Stegen’s consistency, raising questions about whether the club should consider bringing in a new goalkeeper to bolster their chances of success this season.
