Barcelona Vs As Monaco Match Review (0-3)
Barcelona’s final preseason game ended in a disappointing 3-0 defeat to AS Monaco in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. In what was their weakest performance under new manager Hansi Flick, Barça struggled to create meaningful chances and conceded poor goals, leaving them with much to improve before their La Liga opener against Valencia.
First Half:
Barcelona almost scored within the first minute when Raphinha’s cross found Pau Víctor at the far post, but the young striker missed the target. Despite some good midfield play, particularly from Marc Bernal and Marc Casadó, Barça couldn’t convert their dominance into clear opportunities. The defense, playing a high line, managed to avoid serious trouble, but the team lacked a finishing touch. Raphinha had a goal disallowed for offside, and the first half ended goalless, despite Barça’s positive approach.

Second Half:
The second half began poorly for Barça, as they conceded a strange goal just five minutes in when Iñigo Martínez’s pass was intercepted by Lamine Camara, who scored to give Monaco the lead. Monaco doubled their advantage five minutes later, with Breel Embolo lobbing Marc-André ter Stegen after beating Barça’s offside trap. Flick made changes, including the preseason debut of Lamine Yamal, who brought energy and nearly created a goal. However, Barça remained sluggish, and any hopes of a comeback were dashed when Christian Mawissa scored Monaco’s third goal late in the game.

The final whistle confirmed a bad night for Barcelona, who looked far from their best. While the overall preseason remains positive, the loss highlighted that Barça still has significant work to do under Flick before the new season begins.
