Barcelona are reportedly ready to offload Frenkie de Jong for €60 million, as per sources in Spain.

The Dutch midfielder, who has been linked with a possible exit from Camp Nou since he joined in 2019, may finally be on his way out, with the Blaugrana seemingly open to a sale this summer.

Manchester United have long admired De Jong and have nearly signed the 27-year-old in the past two summer transfer windows. Now, a move appears more likely than ever.

According to the Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona is prepared to part with De Jong this summer, placing a €60 million asking price on him.

United are searching for a new central midfielder and have faced obstacles in their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte. Although the Uruguayan remains United’s primary target, PSG is unwilling to reduce his €60 million price tag.

As a result, the Red Devils are considering other options. Burnley’s Sander Berge has emerged as a possible candidate, according to The Transfers Podcast, while Joao Gomes and Youssouf Fofana are also under consideration.

However, United might now have the perfect opportunity to secure De Jong’s services, given his uncertain future at Barcelona and the club’s adjusted asking price of €60 million.

De Jong’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) currently stands at €47.5 million, down from a peak of €86.1 million in July 2021.

So far this summer, Manchester United have been active in the transfer market, acquiring Bologna forward Joshua Zirkzee and Lille defender Leny Yoro for a combined €104.5 million.

Additionally, Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are expected to join the club soon, with their arrivals imminent.

On the departure side, United have sold Mason Greenwood to Marseille, Willy Kambwala to Villarreal, Alvaro Carreras Fernandez to Benfica, and Donny van de Beek to Girona. Raphael Varane is the most notable name among the free transfer exits for the Red Devils.
