Manchester United
VERY SAD NEWS has been announced for Ex Manchester United Star as he goes off injured 20 minutes into his debut match
Raphael Varane was playing his debut match for Como in the Coppa Italia against Sampdoria, but his night was cut short after just 20 minutes due to injury. Although he was able to walk off the pitch, Varane appeared to be in pain as he was escorted to the sidelines by Como’s medical staff.
It remains unclear what type of injury Varane sustained, but this is certainly not an ideal start for the former Manchester United defender.
**Raphael Varane’s Fitness Record:**
Varane’s fitness issues, along with his substantial wages, were key factors in Manchester United’s decision not to extend his contract. Over three seasons with the club, he managed 22 Premier League appearances in both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, and 22 more last season. However, in 2023/24, he made just 16 Premier League starts, less than half of the team’s total games.
During his time at Manchester United, Varane could have started 113 Premier League games but only made 58 starts, just over 50%.
Even though Varane’s replacement at United, Leny Yoro, has faced his own injury struggles, the decision to part ways with Varane may have been the right one, especially given Varane’s early injury woes at Como.
