In breaking news reported live by Fabrizio Romano, the saga surrounding Victor Osimhen has finally reached its conclusion, as the Nigerian international has submitted a transfer request with hopes of joining Chelsea as soon as possible. According to sources, Chelsea are preparing to intensify their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after he handed in his transfer request over the weekend. Osimhen stated, “It’s not new that I want to join Chelsea. I tried to leave and be on good terms with Napoli, but it seems they don’t want to grant my request. I have to do what needs to be done.” Osimhen has made it clear that he wants to leave, reiterating his stance as he submitted his transfer request.

Chelsea have been closely following the 25-year-old striker, who joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, and have previously explored the possibility of a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku. Initially, Chelsea were expected to sign Atletico Madrid forward Samu Omorodion for €40 million, but that deal has reportedly fallen through, according to The Athletic. Chelsea had agreed to a £34.5 million (€40m) deal with Atletico Madrid, with Omorodion set to sign a seven-year contract with an option for an additional year.

Osimhen, who has a release clause of €130 million, is eager to join a top-tier club, and Chelsea are committed to securing his transfer. Meanwhile, Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, is said to be interested in reuniting with Lukaku, who he coached to a Serie A title at Inter Milan in 2021. Lukaku has struggled since returning to Chelsea later that year.

Osimhen’s desire to leave Napoli has been confirmed by the club’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, who said over the weekend, “Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club. He wants to go. The situation is clear; there were already chances for his exit last summer. Victor wants to leave. We will see in the next 20 days.”

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are also reportedly competing for Osimhen’s signature this summer, adding more intensity to the race for the striker. As the transfer window approaches its end, Chelsea are determined to acquire a high-profile striker and see Osimhen as the ideal candidate.
