Arsenal may finally secure the signing of Jonathan David this summer, as reported by the French newspaper L’Equipe. The Canadian forward has been on Arsenal’s radar for several months as the club aims to strengthen its attacking options before the transfer window closes in a few weeks.

While Arsenal has expressed interest in other strikers, such as Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, David appears to be a more cost-effective option, with an estimated value of around £50 million. Recent reports indicate that Arsenal might make a move for the 24-year-old striker after he allegedly declined an offer to join Roma, although he remains keen to leave Lille.

David has been linked with a move away from Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy for a while now, owing to his impressive performances in Ligue 1. Despite attracting considerable interest, the Canadian international has so far stayed with Lille.

As Arsenal seeks to make an impact in the Premier League, they need to sign players who can deliver immediate results. While David is a very talented player, there are doubts about whether he is the solution to Arsenal’s challenges. However, his dynamic movement and energy match well with Mikel Arteta’s vision for the attack, and at £50 million, he could be seen as a bargain in the transfer market.

If Arsenal is determined to acquire Jonathan David, now could be the best time to finalize a deal. Waiting might mean missing out on what could be their final chance to bring the striker to the Emirates.
