Man Utd drop major transfer hint in latest announcement on club website
Manchester United may have hinted at the future of a player rumored to be leaving the club.
The club has been active in the summer transfer market ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
French defender Leny Yoro joined United from Lille, while Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee transferred from Bologna in Serie A.
A number of players have been linked with a departure from Old Trafford, but a recent social media post may have provided a clue about the future of one such player. In the past two weeks, both Everton and Fulham are said to have shown interest in signing Scott McTominay this summer.
However, Manchester United responded by featuring McTominay in several Instagram posts promoting their new third kit.
The 27-year-old also shared these images on his Instagram account, further suggesting he may remain at the club.
Should McTominay leave, Fulham appears to be the most likely destination, having already made two bids for the midfielder.
The latest bid, reportedly around ÂŁ20 million, was rejected as United is believed to be holding out for at least ÂŁ25 million after the Scotsman impressed during the preseason tour in the USA. Speaking after the friendly against Rangers in July, United manager Erik ten Hag praised McTominay.
He said: “I think we have very good players, so they’ll always have an interest from other clubs. If you score 10 goals in a season and perform very well for Scotland there will be an interest.
“We want to actually keep him because he’s a very important player for our squad. We’ve seen what he can contribute last season. When we had the sixes and he could play in a more advanced role, he’s a highly interesting player for our team.”
Beyond the Premier League, it’s reported that Italian club Napoli and some Turkish clubs are also interested in McTominay.
He would follow Raphael Varane, Mason Greenwood, and Donny van de Beek, who left United for a combined €26.5 million.
