Pep Guardiola has explained what he’ll do if Man City are found guilty of 115 charges

Pep Guardiola has previously stated what he will do if Manchester City are found guilty of the 115 alleged FFP charges.

After a four-year investigation, City were charged with alleged rule violations spanning 14 years as of February 2023.

The Premier League champions face accusations of providing inaccurate financial information concerning club revenue, sponsorship income, and operating costs.

The charges have been largely ignored, with an initial hearing not scheduled until November.

However, ESPN now reports that the hearing is set to begin on September 16, barring any further delays or complications. With the hearing moved up, City could potentially face relegation from the Premier League if found guilty.

Such a scenario would cast significant doubts over Guardiola’s future, as his contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire at the season’s end.

Nonetheless, Guardiola has publicly declared that a negative outcome for City will not lead him to leave the club.

“At the moment we are innocent until it is proved we are guilty,” Guardiola said last year in a press conference.

“I know the people want it. I know, I feel it. I will wait. Wait and see it and after the sentence has been done we will come here and explain it.

“But absolutely I will not consider my future (if) it depends being here or being in League One. Absolutely. There is more chance to stay if we are in League One than if we were in the Champions League.”

A verdict on the separate case between City and the Premier League regarding associated party transactions (APT) rules is expected in the coming weeks, and The Times reports that the club believes they have achieved “some successes in the arbitration hearing.”

The FFP case is expected to last around two months, with a verdict likely in 2025 before the season ends.

City maintains they have “irrefutable evidence” to prove their innocence, and chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, managing director Ferran Soriano, and director of football Txiki Begiristain have assured Guardiola that they will be exonerated.
