**PGMOL implements significant change ahead of new Premier League season, and fans believe it will disrupt one specific player.**
There is a major rule change on the horizon for the Premier League.
The Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) is set to introduce a crucial adjustment for the 2024/25 Premier League season, sparking concerns among fans that it could cause guaranteed chaos.
As the body responsible for overseeing officiating in English football and managing VAR operations, PGMOL plays a key role in the game.
Several important changes are already in place for the upcoming season, including the debut of semi-automated offsides.
Additionally, the Premier League has launched a new Match Centre account on Twitter to provide real-time explanations of VAR decisions and offer access to communications from the VAR Hub at Stockley Park.
Moreover, there will be a minor modification to the handball rules, and a relaxation of another existing rule could have a significant impact on games.
According to The Times, PGMOL will alter how holding (blocking or obstructing) is officiated, especially during set pieces.
It is reported that this infraction will be penalized more strictly when a player hinders the movement of an opponent.
This includes holding a goalkeeper within the area during a set piece to restrict their movement or ability to reach the ball.
As a result, this could lead to more penalties, adding another layer of excitement to Premier League matches this season.
However, it might also result in more goals being disallowed due to infractions, and fans were quick to think of a particular player who could be impacted by this change.
One fan commented: “Ben White getting nerfed.”

Another fan wrote: “Ben White will take s**thousery to the next level this season, and I’m here for it.”
A third fan added: “Laughing at the fact they did this just for Ben White, and he’s not even in the box for set pieces anymore.”
