Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has recently given an update on Marc Guehi’s future, potentially allowing clubs like Arsenal to explore a transfer deal in the near future.
In recent seasons, Mikel Arteta has transformed Arsenal from a team competing for a top-six spot to one that nearly won the Premier League title last season. With Arsenal set to return to the Champions League and considered strong challengers to Manchester City for the title, there is ongoing speculation about the players Arteta might still be interested in signing this summer.
Arsenal has already signed Riccardo Calafiori during this transfer window, but rumors persist that Arsenal, along with Tottenham and Newcastle United, are keen on acquiring Marc Guehi. Newcastle has shown particular interest in the defender, having worked on a potential deal for several weeks. However, they have not yet reached an agreement, which has alerted other clubs.
Steve Parish, speaking to Sky Sports News, provided an update on Guehi’s status, making it clear that if any club meets Crystal Palace’s asking price, they will secure the England international’s services. Parish highlighted the player’s value, saying, “Nobody has reached the valuation yet. If you want a superstar player, you need to pay superstar money. It’s not near the point where we have to make a decision. He’s a generational talent.”
It would be interesting to see how Guehi would handle the pressure of playing for one of the Premier League’s top clubs. Given his potential and the relatively modest fee compared to other top talents, he could be a valuable addition to Arsenal’s squad. However, it remains uncertain whether Arteta is looking to add another defender to his team at this moment.
