MANCHESTER CITY
CITYManchester City striker Erling Haaland delivered a brutal comment to Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella after their Victory today in the Premier League match (0-2)

After Spain won Euro 2024, Marc Cucurella took a jab at Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. However, Haaland had his own form of payback at Stamford Bridge.
After being teased by the European Championship winner this summer, Marc Cucurella, Erling Haaland had the ideal response on the field at Stamford Bridge, along with a sharp comeback off the field.
Cucurella celebrated Spain’s victory over Germany by chanting a famous terrace song that mocked Haaland and then praised him. Manchester City’s first move against Chelsea was to send a high ball to Haaland, enabling him to outmaneuver the smaller left-back.
Manchester City forward Erling Haaland made a cutting remark to Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella after their Premier League victory today (0-2).
Haaland then outplayed Cucurella to net City’s first goal. Towards the end of the match, Cucurella was substituted amidst chants of “Haaland, Haaland, Haaland” from the visiting supporters. As he passed by those fans on his way to the bench, they jeered him.
“Cucu cucu-rella, he eats paella, Cucu cucu-rella, he drinks Estrella, Haaland you better shake because Cucurella is coming!” was his chant as Spain celebrated their 2-1 triumph over England in the final in Berlin.
When asked about it post-match, Haaland downplayed the incident but offered a pointed remark, telling Norwegian TV that Cucurella had requested his shirt last season.
“That guy’s (Cucurella) song was pretty cool,” Haaland told VG. “There’s not much more to say. It doesn’t bother me. He can do whatever he wants. He asked me for my shirt last year, and now he’s singing about me.”
Haaland netted his fifth goal of the season during the win over Chelsea. He mentioned enjoying a quiet summer since Norway did not qualify for the European Championship.
“With all due respect, the only positive of missing out on the Euros is that it gave me a proper break and pre-season,” he said. “Now I’m ready to go again.”
“It takes a toll on the body and mind with so many matches,” he added. “My last international game was on June 8 against Denmark. After that, I just wanted to fully switch off and rest. Then to switch back on during the off-season. It’s funny how things work out.”
