Liverpool wants to sell their top player for only £34M

Liverpool are reportedly considering the sale of Joe Gomez as the summer transfer window nears its end, placing a price tag of €35m to €40m (£30m-£35m) on the 27-year-old defender. Several Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Fulham, are said to be interested in acquiring the England international. Additionally, there is potential interest from teams in Saudi Arabia.
Gomez’s future at Anfield is in doubt after being left out of Arne Slot’s squad during the 2-0 victory over Ipswich. Although no formal bids have been made yet, his availability could spark a bidding war in the final days of the window.
Interestingly, earlier in the summer, reports surfaced of a £45m deal with Newcastle that collapsed, leaving Gomez’s fate uncertain. Letting Gomez go, particularly to a direct Premier League rival, could be a risky move for Liverpool. His versatility in covering multiple defensive positions adds value to the squad, and with Liverpool’s current defensive depth, parting ways with Gomez could leave the team vulnerable. Whether he stays in the Premier League or explores opportunities abroad remains to be seen.
