Barcelona continues its efforts to strengthen its ranks in the current summer Mercato with a heavyweight deal that will change a lot within Barcelona’s squad in the new season.
It seems that Laporta has lost hope in signing the talented Spanish player and Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams and has started looking for alternatives to the player in order to sign one of them this summer.
In light of this, the Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” reported that the management of Barcelona is very keen to sign the Portuguese Rafael Leao, the star of AC Milan, during the summer transfer market.
Barcelona’s attempts to sign Nico Williams, the star of Athletic Bilbao and the Spanish national team, failed after the player confirmed his desire to continue with his club for at least another season.
The newspaper indicated that Joan Laporta is very impressed with Rafael Leao’s capabilities, and wants to form a fiery attacking trio led by Lewandowski with Yamal and Leao.
The newspaper added that the Portuguese player’s current price is around 90 million euros, and Barça has the money it was allocating to sign Nico Williams, in addition to selling a number of its players in the current period, so Barça may be able to pay this amount to the Italian team.
“Mundo” added that Leao’s agent is Jorge Mendes, who has a great relationship with Joan Laporta, so this deal may happen before the end of the Mercato.
It is worth noting that Rafael Leao’s contract with Milan will end in the summer of 2028, and the Italian club will not give up the Portuguese player easily.
