We wants to go and we are left with few weeks to buy another player. We will respect his decision as he will soon leave the club and we are ready to let him go. We are looking wit replace him with the Belgium Winger”-Marcus Rashford handed Man Utd escape route as Barcelona and PSG battle for his signature’ before deadline day which could see Erik ten Hag bring in the Belgium talented winger

A new and unexpected player has entered the race to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United this summer, according to recent reports.
Rashford, who is 26 years old, started his 2024/25 season by playing the entire match in Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Fulham at Old Trafford. Notably, he was not selected for England’s squad for Euro 2024 after enduring a tough season the previous year. However, his exclusion from the national team allowed him to focus entirely on a full pre-season with Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Despite this preparation, it’s still unclear whether Rashford’s efforts will benefit Manchester United or a different team. According to a report by Goal, Barcelona has now joined the pursuit to sign Rashford from United during this summer’s transfer window.
The Spanish football powerhouse is close to completing the transfer of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, who is poised to make a return to Manchester City just a year after leaving them on a free transfer. This move is expected to generate funds for new acquisitions, although sources indicate that the Gundogan transfer is also partly driven by financial needs, especially after Barcelona invested a significant €57 million in signing Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig.
Goal also reports that Barcelona’s manager, Hansi Flick, has made a direct appeal for Rashford’s acquisition, expressing a strong need for a left winger who is both skilled at dribbling and capable of scoring. Barcelona had previously attempted to bring in Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao, following his impressive performance with Spain at Euro 2024. However, that deal fell through, leading the club to shift its attention to the English football scene.
Earlier this week, Flick acknowledged the challenges Barcelona faces in signing new players this summer, especially when it comes to registering them for La Liga. He expressed cautious optimism, saying, “I’m optimistic, but there’s still time left. I trust the club. We have more players available in the team, and I hope they can return from injury.
“I am happy with the players I have, actually. When I signed my contract, I knew it would not be easy, but when you see all of the players we have injured, I am looking forward to their return.”
This statement reflects Flick’s understanding of the difficulties in the transfer market, even as Barcelona attempts to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.
