BREAKING: Tragic news has been announced about Eric Ten Hag this morning – Manchester United fans can’t bear it! It’s over! 😱 – Jamie Carragher announced
Paul Merson believes Erik ten Hag has only three games left to save himself from being sacked at Manchester United, amidst reports that half of the dressing room has turned against the Dutchman. With United already losing 10 of their 21 matches this season, Sky Sports has reported that players are frustrated with Ten Hag’s tactics—something TEAMtalk reported as early as November.
The situation looks grim for Ten Hag, with the club’s top players underperforming. While there has been no official statement, reports suggest that United’s management is still allowing him to continue for now. However, Sky Sports chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims that “some of the players are confused” and that “about 50% of the dressing room” has lost faith in Ten Hag. He also highlighted that many players are unhappy with Ten Hag’s intense training sessions and rigid tactics, particularly the treatment of Jadon Sancho.
Ten Hag has been warned that he has three games to save his job, with Manchester United facing Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Bayern Munich in the coming fixtures. Failure to win these games, particularly the Champions League clash against Bayern, could see Ten Hag dismissed before United’s match against Liverpool on December 17.
Paul Merson believes that if United lose to Chelsea, Bournemouth, and Bayern, Ten Hag will be sacked, though he predicts they might beat Bournemouth and possibly fare well against Bayern, who have already qualified for the Round of 16. Merson also called United’s performance against Newcastle “embarrassing,” stating it was one of the most one-sided matches he’s ever seen.
Ten Hag remains determined, insisting, “We have to put this right,” and recalling that the team bounced back from a loss to Manchester City earlier in the season. However, Alan Shearer has also speculated that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is in the process of purchasing a 25% stake in the club, might sack Ten Hag once his takeover is complete, as is often the case when new ownership comes in.
Shearer also criticized United’s spending, pointing to expensive players like Jadon Sancho and Antony who have failed to live up to their price tags, stating that Rashford’s lackluster performance against Newcastle epitomizes the club’s current struggles.
