🔥🏟️According to breaking news from Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United is set to pay forty million pounds for a player following the completion of the Ugarte transfer, in line with the agreed terms.

Manchester United is reportedly interested in signing Ivan Provedel from Lazio, according to Footballwave. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has emerged as one of Serie A’s leading keepers and recently secured a regular spot in Italy’s national team. This season, Provedel has also earned acclaim as the top goalscoring goalkeeper worldwide.
Provedel made a notable impact in the Champions League group stage by netting a vital late goal that earned Lazio a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. His equalizer in the 96th minute was crucial in helping Lazio progress to the Round of 16. Remarkably, this was only the third time in Champions League history that a goalkeeper scored during open play.
Provedel’s goal-scoring feats this season are not unprecedented; he previously showcased his scoring ability during his loan at Juve Stabia in 2020, where he scored a late equalizer against Ascoli. Interestingly, Provedel started his career as a striker, scoring 27 goals for Pordenone’s youth team in the 2008/09 season before making a professional transition to goalkeeper.
Manchester United’s reported interest in Provedel suggests a potential shift from what many view as the world’s best passing goalkeeper to a candidate for the title of the best-scoring goalkeeper.
Lazio’s €35 million asking price for Provedel seems to be a barrier for Manchester United in the January transfer window. However, the club plans to keep an eye on him for a potential move in the summer. Meanwhile, Andre Onana’s performance at Manchester United has not met expectations since his €51 million (plus €4 million in bonuses) transfer from Inter Milan. Despite a stellar Champions League campaign with Inter, where he led in clean sheets and was praised as the top ball-playing goalkeeper, Onana has struggled at Old Trafford.
His notable mistakes, especially during Champions League defeats to Galatasaray and Bayern Munich, have been particularly evident.
Manchester United is currently lagging in the Premier League and has been eliminated from European competitions and the League Cup.
The interest in Provedel reflects the club’s effort to strengthen key areas, potentially transforming their goalkeeping setup. As they weigh these decisions, the summer transfer window becomes a crucial opportunity for United to tackle squad issues and restore their competitiveness across various competitions.
