Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have made an offer to Liverpool

Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have made a late offer for one of Liverpool’s most promising academy players, Tyler Morton. Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen’s manager, is looking to strengthen his squad further as they prepare to compete in both the Bundesliga and Champions League.

The German club has already been active in the transfer market, securing signings such as winger Martin Terrier from Rennes for £20 million, Jeanuël Belocian, also from Rennes, and midfielder Aleix Garcia in an €18 million deal after his impressive performances for Girona last season.

Despite their productive summer window, Leverkusen is still keen on adding another midfielder, and Tyler Morton has emerged as their target. Morton, who made his Premier League and Champions League debut for Liverpool in November 2021, has spent the past two seasons on loan in the Championship. He had a successful 2022/23 season with Blackburn Rovers, where he made 43 appearances, and last season, he impressed with Hull City.

Leverkusen is interested in signing the 21-year-old midfielder on a season-long loan. Liverpool values Morton at around £20 million, but SPORTbible reports that Leverkusen would offer him significant playing time, which could be a pivotal step in his career.

Jurgen Klopp has long been an admirer of Morton. After an impressive performance against Preston North End in 2021, Klopp praised his footballing intelligence but noted that Morton needed to develop physically to become a more complete player. Morton himself has acknowledged this feedback, emphasizing his ongoing work in the gym to improve his physique.

Now, Morton and his representatives are awaiting Liverpool’s final decision regarding Leverkusen’s offer.
