Mo Salah recently hinted that this season might be his last at Liverpool.

The Egyptian forward has started the season in outstanding form once again.

Last weekend, he tormented rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford, assisting Luis Diaz twice before scoring Liverpool’s third goal himself.

Despite being in his thirties, the 32-year-old Salah shows no signs of slowing down.

However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Salah used his post-match interview on Sunday to remind Liverpool that he could leave for free next year.

“I was coming to the game thinking, ‘this could be the last time,’” he told Sky Sports.

“No one at the club has talked to me about a new contract yet, so I’m just playing out my last season and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

I feel free to play football – we’ll see what happens next year.”

Liverpool, however, are not planning to let him go easily.

According to Football Insider, the club is expected to begin contract talks with Salah “within weeks,” hoping to end any speculation about his future and keep him at Anfield.

Although Salah is Liverpool’s second-oldest player, behind Virgil Van Dijk (33), he remains the team’s highest earner, with a current deal that pays him £350,000 per week (Spotrac).
