🔥🏟️BREAKING NEWS: Fabrizio Romano reports, “I didn’t have the chance to spend much of my career with Rashford, but I can say he’s a great guy and better than Mbappé. I spoke with him yesterday, and he’s going through a tough time. He’s making a real effort to overcome it, but the press and England fans aren’t helping. He cares deeply about the club, but he’s really in a dark place right now.” Former United star Ibrahimovic has suggested that the club should either let Rashford leave, whether permanently or on loan, or provide him with all the support he needs. Ibrahimovic believes Rashford might benefit from a change of environment to reach his potential. Nicky Butt, another former Manchester United player, has also voiced concern over Rashford’s current situation, noting that while his mental state is unclear, he is clearly facing significant challenges.
Former Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suggested that Marcus Rashford might benefit from leaving the club this summer. Ibrahimovic feels Rashford has been at Manchester United for too long and believes a change of environment could help him realize his full potential.
In a similar vein, former Manchester United player Nicky Butt, who has known Rashford since he was a child, expressed concern about the forward’s current form. Butt acknowledged Rashford’s talent but noted that he has struggled to perform at his best in recent years. He said, “I’ve known Marcus since he was about eight or nine at Manchester United, and we’ve always had high hopes for him. I still believe he has the talent to become one of the top players in the world.”
Butt acknowledged that Rashford’s recent form at Manchester United has been underwhelming and suggested that a change of clubs might be necessary for him to regain his best performance. He commented, “It’s disheartening to see him not hitting his stride at Manchester United in recent years. We’ve all been hoping for him to turn things around, but perhaps a move is what he needs. While no one can fully understand his mentality, his talent is undeniable. He’s an exceptional footballer.”
Butt also addressed the criticism Rashford has faced from fans and pundits, who have questioned his commitment and body language. He defended Rashford, stating, “People say he doesn’t care, but I can assure you he does. He’s a genuine person who deeply cares about his performances. Maybe it’s time for him to join a new club where he can breathe easier and escape constant scrutiny. He has become a scapegoat for Manchester United’s difficulties, but it’s not solely his fault—the whole squad needs to improve.”
Rashford has struggled to regain his best form since the start of the 2023-24 season. Despite logging 245 minutes in the Premier League, he has yet to score or assist. His 83 minutes in the Community Shield also yielded no significant impact. While Rashford has come close to setting up several goal-scoring chances—most notably with missed opportunities from teammates Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho—his overall performance has fallen short of expectations.
Last season was similarly disappointing for Rashford. In 33 Premier League matches, he scored just seven goals and provided three assists, adding two more assists in the UEFA Champions League. Despite speculation linking him with a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer, Rashford has stayed at Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford’s ongoing struggles have sparked increasing concern about his future at Manchester United. Both Ibrahimovic and Butt are of the opinion that a change of scenery could be what Rashford needs to rejuvenate his career and realize the considerable potential he has displayed since his youth at the club.
