Zinedine Zidane was recently seen at a training session for a club, fueling speculation amid the growing scrutiny on Erik ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager. Despite the season being in its early stages, pressure is mounting on Ten Hag following consecutive Premier League losses, including a heavy 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at home.

Although there was intense speculation about Ten Hag’s future at the end of last season, he avoided being dismissed and instead signed a new contract with Manchester United. Prior to his contract renewal, several prominent managers, including Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate, were rumored as potential replacements, along with Zidane, who has only managed Real Madrid.

Zidane, who stepped down from Real Madrid in 2021 after winning three Champions League titles between 2015 and 2018, was recently spotted at Real Betis’ training session. His unexpected appearance coincided with his son Elyaz’s first session with Betis’ first team. Elyaz, 18, had spent 11 years at Real Madrid before moving to Betis, which is managed by former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

While Zidane’s name continues to be linked with Manchester United, the club’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, has expressed full support for Ten Hag. Before the weekend’s match, Berrada reaffirmed the club’s faith in the Dutch manager, stating, “We’re very pleased with our decision to extend Erik’s contract. He has our full backing, and we will continue to work closely with him to achieve the best results for the team.”
