AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf has expressed confidence that Arne Slot can help Ryan Gravenberch thrive at Liverpool. The midfielder has been enjoying his best run of form since joining from Bayern Munich in 2023.

Liverpool secured Gravenberch for £40 million, making him Jurgen Klopp’s final signing as Reds manager. Despite making 38 appearances in his debut season, Gravenberch only started 21 games across all competitions. However, under Slot’s guidance, he has started every game this season, including the Champions League clash against Milan, marking his first stretch of five consecutive starts since arriving at Anfield.

Seedorf, speaking to Amazon Prime ahead of the Milan-Liverpool match, praised Gravenberch’s progress and explained why Liverpool is the right environment for the Dutch midfielder.

“He was signed before this coach [Slot] came in, so Klopp and the club clearly believe in Gravenberch,” Seedorf said. “He needed that transition year after a difficult season at Bayern. Liverpool was preparing him for what we’re seeing now.

“He had some strong moments last year, but it’s hard to adapt to a new team, club, and country so quickly. Hopefully, this is just the beginning of a long, successful spell for such a great talent.”
