Manchester United legend Paul Scholes heaped praise on midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after his standout performance in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City.

The Moroccan international was chosen to play in the number six role for the final, preferred over Casemiro, who wasn’t fully fit for the match.

Amrabat delivered an outstanding display, registering 37 touches and completing 93% of his passes (25 out of 27). He also won two duels, made two clearances, recorded two tackles, and blocked one shot.

Impressively, the midfielder lost possession only three times, an achievement given the high stakes of the final.

Following the 2-1 win, Scholes took to Instagram to laud Amrabat, comparing the 27-year-old to a “prime Gattuso” for his performance on such a big stage.

Amrabat arrived at Old Trafford on loan from Fiorentina last summer, amidst considerable speculation.

United paid a significant loan fee of €10 million to secure his services. Initially used as a left-back by manager Erik ten Hag, Amrabat later shifted into his more natural midfield role.

Despite a slow start to his United career, Amrabat had recently begun to find his footing with solid performances against Arsenal and Newcastle United, which earned him a starting spot in the final.
