The reason why an Arsenal player was booked before even making his debut has been revealed.

The early title race face-off didn’t need even more crazy moments, however it got one in the form of an Arsenal receiving a yellow card before he has even made his Arsenal debut.

Michael Oliver, who has been a source of controversy throughout the match, gave the yellow card to 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Lewis-Skelly’s stats for his Premier League career now read 0 minutes played, 1 yellow card, with fans losing it at the bizarre incident.

One Arsenal fan account tweeted: “Myles Lewis-Skelly booked. Impressive. He’s got a booking without a minute of Premier League action to his name.”

Another tweeted: “Myles Lewis-Skelly getting booked before he’s even made his debut is insane”, with crying emojis.

Sean Walsh, the editor of 90 minute football said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly surely the first player to have 0 PL minutes and 1 PL yellow card”.

It was not clear on the broadcast however what happened that led to the yellow card, with Lewis-Skelly seemingly warming up on the touchline.

One fan however seems to have figured out what went on, tweeting: “Michael Oliver has just booked Myles Lewis-Skelly for telling David Raya to go down injured.

“WHERE THE F*CK IS THAT IN THE RULES?”

Immediately before his yellow card was given, David Raya went down prior to a goal kick seemingly ‘injured’.

Peter Drury at the time posited that Raya may not actually be injured, suggesting that it was actually a time wasting tactic from Arsenal.

Whether genuine or faked, the ‘injury’ allowed Arsenal a moment to rest, with players going over to receive water and instructions from manager Mikel Arteta.

The incident was one of several from the match that stood out to fans.

Leandro Trossard received a red card for delaying the game when he kicked away a free kick, with Arsenal fans realising that Jeremy Doku, the Manchester City winger, did the same thing in the first half.
