MANCHESTER CITY
Arsenal fans are all blaming the same player for late Man City equaliser
Arsenal supporters have pointed the finger at one player after Manchester City scored a late equalizer.
On Sunday evening, the Gunners appeared to be on course for a crucial three points against City at the Etihad Stadium.
However, John Stones had other plans, netting from close range to level the score at 2-2 deep into stoppage time.
Fans took to social media, expressing their frustration with second-half substitute Gabriel Jesus.
One fan commented: “I’m so frustrated with Gabriel Jesus right now. Time’s up, all you need to do is clear the ball, not bring it back to the corner flag and gift them an unnecessary corner.”
Another tweeted: “I blame one person, Gabriel Jesus. Please tell me WHY on earth he went back instead of clearing it!”
A third added: “I want Gabriel Jesus sold in January. He single-handedly cost us the game with his poor decision-making.”
Someone else wrote: “Heartbreaking for Arsenal, after such resolute defending. Gabriel Jesus should have just cleared the ball that led to the corner.”
A fifth fan remarked: “He thought he was still playing for City and tried to win a corner.”
Another fan said: “Why is Gabriel Jesus shielding the ball in his own corner… then City go and score!”
Following the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “I’m incredibly proud of the team. We played in a challenging context, facing the best team in the world.
“After going 2-1 up, it was a different game. I prefer not to comment on the [Leandro Trossard’s red card].”
He added: “It’s already a miracle we played 56 minutes at the Etihad with 10 men. What we’ve done is unbelievable.
“It’s clear what happened with that decision, but I won’t comment further. I don’t want to make things worse off the pitch.”
