A former England player thinks that Brazilian winger Antony could be on his way out of Old Trafford, as he’s finding it hard to handle the physical demands of the Premier League.

Joe Cole believes Antony’s time at Manchester United may be nearing its end because he isn’t suited to the intensity of the league.

Despite being an £82 million signing from Ajax, Antony is now in his third season at the club but has yet to establish himself, having made just one brief league appearance this season, coming on as a substitute during their 2-1 loss to Brighton last month.

He has slipped down the pecking order behind the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, and Amad, becoming more of a fringe player.

Cole remarked, “The issue with Antony at Manchester United is that he’s ideal for the Dutch league.”

Joe Cole believes that despite Antony’s talent, technique, and skill, he struggles with the physicality of the Premier League.

Although Antony played well and scored a penalty in Manchester United’s 7-0 Carabao Cup victory over Barnsley, Cole doesn’t see him making a big impact in the starting lineup this season.

The 24-year-old hasn’t featured in United’s last three Premier League matches, remaining an unused substitute, even during the goalless draw against Crystal Palace when the team needed inspiration.

Cole questions whether Antony can turn his situation around at Manchester United.

Antony was left out during Manchester United’s Community Shield loss to Manchester City and their opening day defeat to Fulham.

In an interview with Paddy Power, Cole said: “I think Antony is playing with the idea of a move away from the club in mind, and I believe United will move on from him.

He’s still young and should be entering his prime soon, but I think he’s better suited to other leagues.”
