Only three Man Utd stars left messages on Anthony Martial’s Instagram after announcing shock transfer
Three Manchester United players were seen commenting on Anthony Martial’s social media post after he revealed his new club.
Martial originally joined United in 2015 as a teenager in a deal reportedly worth £36 million.
Unfortunately, he was unable to secure a consistent starting role at Old Trafford, as his time with the Red Devils was significantly affected by recurring injuries.
Following the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, Martial left Manchester after his contract expired. In total, he made 317 appearances for United in all competitions, netting 90 goals.
Last week, reports surfaced that Martial had signed with the Greek team AEK Athens, who offered the 28-year-old a deal valued at £2.5 million annually.
On Friday, Martial shared a photo of himself donning the colours of his new club on social media.
Martial’s Instagram post was captioned: “New Chapter. Let’s go @aekfc_official.”
In the comments, United players Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, and Harry Maguire were all seen leaving messages for Martial.
Additionally, Jadon Sancho, currently on loan to Chelsea, commented, as did former United players Anthony Elanga, Donny van de Beek, and Odion Ighalo.
After joining AEK Athens, Martial said: “I’m very happy. AEK was a chance for me and I want to give the best of myself to win trophies and bring joy to the fans.”
Former United teammate Morgan Schneiderlin also expressed his support for Martial.
He told Monobala: “I think AEK’s style suits his game, and I’m confident he’ll have a fantastic season, scoring many goals. He will thrive in AEK’s fast-paced play. He’ll be a great asset to the team. AEK is strong, and Martial is the kind of forward who can break down tight defences and make a real difference.
“He’s someone who doesn’t talk a lot. When you first meet him, you might think he’s distant, but he enjoys laughing and is genuinely a wonderful person.”
