Barcelona has suffered a significant setback following the revelation of goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury, which has been confirmed as severe and will sideline him for the entire season. According to the club, Ter Stegen will require surgery after sustaining a “complete tear” in his knee tendon. The injury occurred near the end of the first half when Ter Stegen landed awkwardly on his right foot while attempting to catch a cross. He was carried off the field on a stretcher, clearly in pain, after medical staff intervened.

Spanish newspaper *El Nacional* reported that Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has offered to join Barcelona as a replacement for Ter Stegen. Szczesny, now a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Juventus last summer, could join the Catalan club without transfer fees.

However, the German coach Hansi Flick reportedly does not have much faith in Szczesny. According to the newspaper, Flick believes Szczesny has been a weak point for Juventus in recent years, even joking with Barcelona’s technical staff that the young Lamine Yamal might be better at stopping shots than Szczesny.
