Liverpool’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie appears to be gaining traction, according to reports from Fichajes. The Premier League club is keen to strengthen its defense ahead of the new season and is prepared to make a significant financial commitment.

Hincapie, who joined Leverkusen in 2021, has developed into a key player under manager Xabi Alonso. The 22-year-old has made 37 appearances this season, contributing one goal and two assists. His defensive abilities are reflected in averages of 1.4 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, and 1.7 clearances per game, as per Kool Media statistics.

Leverkusen has had a strong season, remaining unbeaten in the Bundesliga, with Hincapie playing a vital role in their defensive success. His technical skills and excellent passing accuracy help initiate attacks from deep positions, although he still needs to work on maintaining consistent focus.

Despite having Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate in their ranks, Liverpool sees Hincapie as a long-term investment in defense. They are looking to move quickly on the deal, with a potential transfer fee of around €55 million, balancing ambition with financial caution amid competition from other clubs.
