Liverpool eyeing shock move for Chelsea flop as Mohamed Salah replacement
Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprising move for a former Chelsea player as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to new reports.
Salah has been the subject of ongoing transfer rumors, with his current Liverpool contract set to expire at the end of the season. He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Liverpool having previously rejected a massive £150 million offer from Al Ittihad last September. While there’s still a chance Salah could extend his stay at Anfield, Liverpool are said to be eyeing Christian Pulisic as a possible replacement if the Egyptian leaves.
Pulisic, who had a difficult spell at Chelsea, has revitalized his career at AC Milan since his £18.8 million move in the summer of 2023. He joined Milan after struggling to make an impact at Stamford Bridge following his £58 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund. Now delivering strong performances for the Serie A side, Pulisic has caught the attention of Liverpool.
Italian outlet *Calciomercato* claims that Milan would demand at least £33.3 million for the 26-year-old American. If Liverpool were to sign Pulisic, it would be a move reminiscent of their acquisition of Salah, who also struggled at Chelsea before becoming a superstar at Anfield.
Salah, now 32, has been with Liverpool since 2017, leading the club to Premier League and Champions League titles while scoring 215 goals across all competitions. However, with his contract coming to an end, this season could be his last with the club.
Ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League match against Wolves, manager Arne Slot addressed Salah’s contract situation, stating, “I’m very happy that these players are in my team at the moment,” while also referencing key players Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. He added, “There’s a lot of games this season and in the upcoming weeks, let’s see what happens in the future.”
