Fans can’t believe what Riccardo Calafiori was spotted doing during Arsenal’s Champions League win over PSG

Arsenal fans on social media were shocked by what they noticed new signing Riccardo Calafiori doing during their Champions League match on Tuesday.
The Gunners secured their first European victory of the season, defeating French champions Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.
Kai Havertz opened the scoring for Arsenal in the 20th minute, followed by a stunning free kick from captain Bukayo Saka, doubling the lead just before half-time.
However, the moment everyone is discussing involves new Arsenal defender Calafiori, who was observed doing something unusual during the match. As he received a yellow card in the 76th minute, teammate Declan Rice handed him something, which Calafiori immediately placed in his mouth, sparking fan speculation that it might have been a vape.
One fan, reacting to the clip on social media platform X, commented: “Yo did I just see Rice pass Calafiori a Vape as he got a yellow.”
Another fan added: “Riccardo Calafiori using a VAPE that was thrown onto the pitch in the Champions League tonight?! WTF”
One fan joked: “PSG were so dead tonight, they had Calafiori taking vape breaks mid game.”
However, another fan clarified that it was unlikely to be a vape, suggesting it was probably an energy gel sachet instead.
In response to other comments, one user said: “It’s a sports/energy gel that players get to keep energy and electrolyte levels up during a game.”
Another frustrated fan wrote: “People giving Calafiori s*** after today’s game…guys…it’s an energy gel pack.”

Energy gels are frequently used by players in elite sports as a way to recover or boost energy during demanding matches or training sessions.
In football, players usually take them during refreshment breaks, but they can choose to use them during any pause in play.
Once consumed, the simple sugars in energy gels are quickly absorbed by the blood, providing an energy spike.
Each energy gel typically contains around 25g of carbohydrates, offering about 45 minutes of energy, which is why football players often take them around half-time.
