Barcelona secured a crucial 3-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés on Sunday, solidifying their position at the top of La Liga with 24 points from 9 matches, 3 points ahead of Real Madrid. Robert Lewandowski, continuing his impressive form, scored all three goals.

Following the match, the Catalan newspaper *Sport* reported that Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, informed young left-back Gerard Martin that he should consider moving to a new club in January. Flick explained that Martin lacks the experience and necessary qualities to represent Barcelona at this stage.

Flick also discussed the situation with club president Joan Laporta, emphasizing that it would be in Martin’s best interest to develop elsewhere before potentially returning in the future. The coach has shown a clear preference for Hector Fort, whom he believes has the potential to become a top defender in the coming years, further diminishing Martin’s chances of breaking into the first team.
