Hansi Flick requests to sign him: The player rejected an offer from Real Madrid and preferred to join Barcelona

Hansi Flick’s appointment at Barcelona signaled a fresh chapter in the iconic rivalry between the Catalan team and Real Madrid, this time intensified by a high-profile transfer saga.
Since arriving at Camp Nou, Flick’s objective has been straightforward: to fortify Barcelona for direct competition with Real Madrid, their fierce adversary in La Liga and Europe. The German coach is currently succeeding, with Barcelona sitting atop the La Liga standings, holding a 3-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid.
A report from the Catalan outlet *Sport* revealed that Barcelona attempted to secure Tah’s signature in the closing days of the summer transfer window, but salary cap issues hindered the move. The report also noted that Sky Germany confirmed Tah’s preference to join Barcelona next summer, despite offers from several Premier League clubs.
Tah’s contract with Leverkusen expires in June, and he has yet to reach an extension agreement, making his departure increasingly likely. The report further mentioned that Real Madrid approached the player with a contract offer, but he declined, favoring a potential switch to Barcelona in 2025, delivering a major setback to Florentino Perez.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick holds Tah in high regard, as the player has impressive technical and physical attributes that make him a key target to bolster the defense. At 28, Tah excels as a center-back, and his contract with Bayer Leverkusen is set to end in June 2025.
Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen in July 2015 from Hamburg, and since then he has made 363 appearances across all competitions, netting 15 goals.
