🔥🏟️ will’: Giorgi Mamardashvili confirms what he’ll do at Liverpool if Alisson Becker doesn’t leave

Giorgi Mamardashvili was one of two signings Liverpool made this summer, with the Georgia international due to move to Anfield next year.
The Reds paid close to £34m to sign the Valencia goalkeeper with Mamardashvili currently at the La Liga side on loan for the season, with the 23-year-old shot-stopper regarded as one of the most exciting talents in the position in Europe.
With Liverpool already having arguably the best goalkeeper in the world in Alisson Becker, though, Mamardashvili faces a big challenge next season if the Georgia superstar is to replace his Brazilian counterpart as the starting keeper at Anfield.
And Mamardashvili has now shared what he plans to do if Alisson is still at Liverpool next year.
Mamardashvili vows to compete with Alisson for Liverpool’s no. 1 shirt
Speaking to El Desmarque, Mamardashvili vowed to fight for the starting goalkeeper position even if Alisson is still a Liverpool player, with the former AS Roma star likely to be on Merseyside and to be Arne Slot’s starting option for 2025.
Although Alisson revealed he had interest from Saudi Arabia, the 32-year-old keeper is unlikely to leave Liverpool until his current contract comes to an end, which could leave Mamardashvili stranded on the bench for next season.
However, Mamardashvili seems determined to fight for the no. 1 spot in Liverpool’s starting XI, and the on-loan Valencia keeper is not short on confidence when it comes to taking on Alisson for the position.
Mamardashvili said: “I was attracted by the Liverpool project when the club’s representatives met with me to sign me. I will fight for the starting goalkeeper position, even if the current goalkeeper does not leave the team.”
Mamardashvili might have to brace himself for a year on the bench
Mamardashvili is without question an exceptional goalkeeper in the making, with the La Liga star a fitting successor for Alisson at Anfield and a player who can become a real cult hero at Liverpool in the years to come.
However, looking ahead to next season, Mamardashvili might have to brace himself for a season sat on the bench, with Alisson unlikely to leave with the Brazilian international still producing moments that no other goalkeeper in the world can come up with.
Mamardashvili’s time at Liverpool will come, though, yet the Georgia international might need to prepare himself for what could be a year of little football unless Alisson’s injury record continues to be as inconsistent as it has been this season.
