Marcus Rashford to Barcelona?! Hansi Flick ‘requests’ transfer swoop for Man Utd winger after failed Nico Williams pursuit

Hansi Flick has reportedly asked Barcelona to sign Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford after failing to secure Nico Williams from Athletic Club. Flick, who has emphasized the need for a left winger capable of scoring and dribbling, initially targeted Williams following his impressive performances during Spain’s Euro 2024 victory. However, Athletic Club seems reluctant to sell their star player this summer.

With Williams unlikely to join, Barcelona has begun exploring alternatives, including Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman and, more surprisingly, Rashford. According to GOL Sport journalist Albert Fernandez, Flick has specifically requested the signing of the English winger.

Rashford, 26, struggled last season, managing only eight goals and six assists across all competitions. His dip in form led to his exclusion from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. Despite playing in Manchester United’s two matches this season, Rashford’s performances have continued to be underwhelming.
Barcelona has yet to submit a formal bid, and it remains to be seen if they will pursue the move before the transfer window closes. Rashford is expected to feature next for Manchester United in their Premier League match against Brighton.
