FOOTBALLFormer Real Madrid coach eyes January move for Barcelona forward
After early promising signs in the pre-season, Ansu Fati’s season seems to have taken a downturn.
Initially anticipated to thrive under Hansi Flick, the forward has found it difficult to secure a place in Barcelona’s starting lineup, even after recovering from injury.
He now finds himself behind players such as Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Fermin Lopez in the squad hierarchy, raising doubts about his future.
Jose Mourinho wants to sign Fati in January
According to AS, Fenerbahce has surfaced as a potential destination for Ansu Fati in the upcoming January transfer window.
It seems that former Real Madrid coach José Mourinho, who is currently in charge of Fenerbahce, is looking to bolster his attacking options in January, with Fati being one of his top targets.
Mourinho’s interest in Fati is not new, as he had previously tried to convince the player. However, this time he feels confident that Fenerbahce can secure the Barcelona forward in January.
In fact, Fenerbahce’s interest is quite genuine, and the club’s sporting director, Mario Branco, is expected to reach out to Fati’s agent in the coming weeks.
While Fenerbahce is unlikely to sign Fati on a permanent deal in January, Barcelona might not rule out a loan move for the attacker.
The Catalan club is becoming increasingly concerned about Fati’s declining market value. A loan spell in Istanbul could provide the forward with the perfect opportunity to revive his career.
However, Fenerbahce is not the only club interested in Fati, as Sevilla, one of La Liga’s top teams, is also keen on acquiring the Barcelona outcast. Therefore, it will be intriguing to see what the future holds for the player this January.
