The Best Thing For Your Football Career Is To Move Away From Old Trafford. It Is Obvious That You Are Not Happy At Manchester United.” – This Is According To Paul Gascoigne As He Gives Marcus Rashford An “Unbelievable” Transfer Ultimatum Amid Doubts About His Future At Manchester United, Which Has Grown Increasingly Uncertain.
Paul Gascoigne has urged Marcus Rashford to leave Manchester United, suggesting a specific path for him to follow.
The football legend has advised Rashford to consider moving overseas to rejuvenate his career. The 26-year-old forward, who once netted 30 goals in the 2022/23 season, has since struggled at Old Trafford, scoring just eight goals in the following season.
Despite showcasing his talent in a recent 3-3 Europa League draw against FC Porto, Rashford’s form has been inconsistent. He was left out of the starting lineup against Crystal Palace and faced criticism for his performances against Twente and Tottenham.
Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly reigniting its interest in Rashford after previous talks earlier this year, which could offer the England international a fresh start. Gascoigne believes a move abroad could greatly benefit him.
In an interview with SportsCasting, Gascoigne shared his thoughts on Rashford’s situation at Manchester United, stating, “Yes, definitely, I think it’s the right choice.” He continued, “I love Rashford, he’s an incredible player, but he just doesn’t seem to care. Even when he scores, he doesn’t look happy, so something is clearly off. If that’s the case, it’s best to move on.”
Gascoigne added, “Playing in England doesn’t seem to make him happy. There are plenty of great clubs that would be interested in him. A move to Italy could really shake things up for him.”
Reflecting on his own time in Serie A, Gascoigne suggested it might have the same positive impact on Rashford. “It definitely shook me up. I remember when I joined Lazio—it was quite a moment,” he said.
“I told my dad, ‘Let’s go and watch them train for a week first.’ When I saw the warm-up, I thought, ‘Wow, that looks like an intense training session.’ But the coach said, ‘That’s just the warm-up.’ I nearly cried and told my dad, ‘There’s no way I can do that. Absolutely no way.’ The warm-up alone was 20 laps, followed by half an hour of stretching.”
Recalling his father’s response, Gascoigne said, “My dad told me, ‘You better get used to it because I’ve already found a villa and I’m moving in.’ A move abroad would definitely shake Rashford up a bit.”
