He left Madrid, and Ancelotti is asking Florentino to bring him back now: he is the ideal defender

Real Madrid is facing a significant injury crisis this season, particularly in defense, with David Alaba out indefinitely and Dani Carvajal ruled out for the remainder of the season. Adding to the concern is the recurrence of Eder Militao’s injuries, which pose a major risk as the club competes in seven championships for the first time in its history.
According to *Defensa Central*, coach Carlo Ancelotti is worried about the defensive situation and has reflected on the absence of Nacho, who had wanted to renew his contract but ultimately left the club. Had he stayed, Nacho would have likely been a key player this season, logging significant minutes. Ancelotti reportedly asked Florentino Pérez if there were any possibilities to bring Nacho back or conditions that would allow his return in the second half of the season. Unfortunately, Nacho does not have any clauses that would enable him to terminate his contract without penalties, and his difficult exit makes a return unlikely.
Real Madrid is now exploring other market options, as Nacho’s departure—much like Toni Kroos’s exit—has been a painful loss for the club. Given Nacho’s ability to play both center-back and full-back, the club would have fought harder to keep him if they could go back. However, there is no point in dwelling on the past; the club must now address the situation and find a solution in the transfer market.
The ideal outcome would be to sign a central defender on a multi-season contract to avoid another defensive crisis in 2025. However, concluding such deals during the winter transfer window is notoriously challenging. For now, Real Madrid is actively scouting, though they have yet to identify a priority target for the position.
