Kylian Mbappé, who has been reportedly linked to a rape investigation in Sweden, will provide any necessary explanations to the Swedish justice system, his lawyer confirmed on Thursday.

“He prioritizes offering his explanations, if required, to the Swedish judiciary,” stated Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard in a conversation with AFP.

The lawyer condemned “media claims implying that Kylian Mbappé had commented on the events of his visit to Stockholm.”

Both *Le Parisien* and *RMC Sports* reported on Thursday that the French and Real Madrid star engaged in consensual relations with a young woman during his recent trip.

According to the outlets, Mbappé holds messages from the woman that conveyed “a very positive tone,” describing a pleasant and consensual encounter.

*Le Parisien* noted that it could not verify whether the complainant in the rape case was the same individual who sent the messages.

Mbappé, sidelined due to discomfort in his left thigh, was excluded from France’s Nations League squad. He opted to visit Stockholm with friends, arriving on October 9 and departing on October 11.

Several Swedish media reported that the group visited a restaurant and nightclub. After they left Sweden, a woman filed a police report alleging she was raped.

On Monday, after the Swedish newspaper *Aftonbladet* first reported that a rape investigation had been launched, Mbappé refuted the claim as “fake news” on social media, suggesting it was linked to his financial dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain. A hearing was held on Tuesday regarding the case.

“It’s so predictable, the day before the hearing, as if by coincidence,” Mbappé wrote on X, previously known as Twitter.

A Swedish prosecutor confirmed an investigation but did not name Mbappé.

Canu-Bernard reassured AFP on Tuesday that the 2018 World Cup winner is “comfortable” because “he has done nothing wrong.”
