Hansi Flick reveals Barcelona’s most important players this season and asks the team’s star to prepare to start against Bayern Munich
Barcelona secured a decisive 5-1 victory over Sevilla in the tenth round of the Spanish League. This crucial win helps Barcelona maintain their lead at the top of the La Liga standings.
Following the match, Barcelona’s points increased to 27, securing first place in the league, while Sevilla remains in thirteenth place with 12 points. Barcelona’s next La Liga clash will be against their arch-rival Real Madrid in the Clasico on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, a match with no room for error.
According to “El Nacional,” after the match, the German coach went straight to the locker room, first approaching Pedri, who has been a standout performer this season. Flick expressed his admiration for Pedri’s consistent excellence, telling him: “I am no longer surprised by the great level you show in every match.” Pedri had scored the second goal with a brilliant strike. The report also revealed that Flick discussed the team’s turnaround this season with his assistant, crediting the improvement to the exceptional form of Brazilian winger Rafinha.
Flick has been impressed by Rafinha’s aggressive attacking, tireless defense, and his leadership on the pitch, noting how he continuously creates opportunities for his teammates. He also criticized the management’s decision last summer to consider selling Rafinha, praising the player’s determination to remain at Barcelona.
In a surprising move, Flick instructed Frenkie de Jong, who didn’t play against Sevilla, to be ready for a starting role in the Champions League match against Bayern Munich. The newspaper added that Flick advised Lewandowski against selfish play, encouraging him to prioritize the team’s success, especially after choosing to shoot rather than pass to Fati for a near-certain goal that could have boosted Fati’s confidence.
